UEFA Category IV Stadium in Rustavi
The project site is located in the central part of the city of Rustavi. The project involves the demolition of the existing depreciated stadium and the preparation of a conceptual design for the construction of a new stadium that meets UEFA Category IV standards on the same site.
At the entrance to the site stands an arched building, designed in the 1950s by a group of architects from the Rustavi Construction Plant. Its original function was that of a sports and cultural center, serving both the local population and the employees of the metallurgical plant. Rustavi’s old stadium and its arched entrance are not officially recognized as cultural heritage monuments; however, for the local community, urbanists, and architectural researchers, they are considered an important urban landmark that preserves the authentic character of the environment.
Because of this social significance, we decided to preserve the city’s distinctive building.
Given the current condition, it is necessary to carry out restoration works in order to return the building to its original appearance and allow it to once again serve as the main entrance.
The old stadium is completely depreciated and requires demolition. The site also retains the existing auxiliary stadium, designed for 200 spectators, with covered stands and lighting poles installed at all four corners.
According to the technical assignment and UEFA requirements, the stadium must accommodate 8,000 spectators, include VIP and media boxes, provide parking spaces, and feature an auxiliary stadium.
Three entrances have been created to access the stadium, allowing spectators to easily reach sectors A, B, C, and D. The sectors are arranged as follows: Sector A on the west side, Sector B to the north, Sector C to the east, and Sector D to the south.
The company “Megawatt” participated in the competition announced by the government.
