Gurjaani Forest Park
The conceptual design was prepared for participation in a state-announced competition aimed at creating a modern, multifunctional recreational space in the city of Gurjaani, Kakheti region. The project concept is based on contemporary landscape architecture approaches and takes into account the area’s climatic, urban, and natural characteristics.
The park integrates recreational, sports, educational, and tourism-oriented facilities, creating an active and diverse public space for both local residents and visitors. Key elements of the project include thematically planned zones, innovative features, and maximum integration with the natural environment.
The main facilities planned within the project include:
- Multifunctional urban park – a modern recreational space for both residents and visitors.
- Botanical garden – an educational and eco-tourism zone featuring plant species native to Georgia.
- Sports infrastructure – open sports courts, running and cycling tracks, and training areas.
- Children’s play zones – safe and age-appropriate spaces for kids.
- Lake and surrounding recreational area – walking paths and relaxation spaces integrated with nature.
A standout feature is the micro-aviation zone (small airfield), which gives the park a unique identity and significantly enhances its tourist appeal. Alternatively, the area can be used for equestrian tourism and sports, adding further diversity and eco-tourism value.
The project’s concept focuses on the region’s sustainable development, increasing social engagement, and enhancing Gurjaani’s tourism potential, giving the project a significant role.
